I am fixing a dress Mari worked on. So have every right to leave a review.I used to operate a sewing business which specialized in competitive dance costumes however I also did many grad gown alterations, personal attire alterations, personal sewing of specialty pieces, as well as custom aprons for a bakery. I now work in a different sector however am fixing Michelle's wedding dress after Mari worked on it.
Michelle was charged 840.00 for the following
Shortened straps (incorrectly-folded over and sewn)
Hemmed front of skirt and lining-(not short enough, has to be redone)
Took in the back of the bodice- ( the alteration is at the ribbons- not a construction alteration, also did not neatly cut away excess or neatly sew ribbon down)
Triple tacked a bustle which appeared very messy once up.
Back zipper alteration, which was only done at the waist instead of the whole run of the back seam. This mistake creates a crooked and curved seam, which creates uneven weight, which forces the back of the dress to bend inward, which looks like the dress has a bum. Unacceptable.
Many of the stitch work areas on the dress and fastenings I removed were messy. Again, this is a once worn special formal gown. Unacceptable.
My guesstimate on the time that it would take me to do this work which Mari did is between 4 and 6 hours. That's well over 100.00 per hour.
There was also damage to the dress, small holes in the net around where Mari worked, and obvious rubbing against the appliques making them fuzzy.
Michelle did think all was okay when she tried on her dress in front of her mom and sister. However upon closer inspection once home her heart sank. She knew something was very wrong and with a wedding quickly approaching , visible damage and feeling taken advantage of, and a very big breach of trust, she did not want to return her gown to Mari.
I will support Michelle with legal action.read more
After dealing with many alteration shops, I now have 1 and only 1 super preferred one. Mari’s Bridal, period.
From the friendly reception to their active listening and understanding my needs to offering and agreeing on creative and amazing elegant solutions, I was impressed.
They were recommended to me by a friend who assured me Mari’s Bridal is the best they have dealt with so I gave it a try and I wasn’t disappointed at all so I gave them my most expensive and dear to my heart dress and they did a fabulous job. I was super excited to show it off to my friends and family.
They are not the cheapest out there but certainly reasonable compared to other due to their specialized and professional services. I have tried the cheap and never again and for a few more bucks, it’s sure worth it.
She for sure know her craft and her work is neat and the embroidery she suggested and immaculately executed for me was so so PRETTY ♥️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Really cool!!!

Mari is amazing and I am so glad I found her to alter my wedding dress! When I bought my dress the store made it sound like it was an easy, straight forward alteration. It turned out it was actually very complex, but Mari was not phased. The top had to be taken in about two sizes and she had to hand cut and sew through lace in the front of the bodice because there was mesh on the sides and back that could not be touched. It looked FLAWLESS – you could not tell that it had been altered, and it fit me like a glove. I was so relieved and so happy! Came to her needing a bustle for my wedding dress (wedding being less than a month away). She squeezed me in, knew exactly what she needed to do for the dress and made sure she got it done right before her vacation. Also gave me tips of how to sit properly (I had a big ball gown dress), and what pieces to untie so I could eat comfortably. She did a great job.read more
Didn’t realize before I made the appointment that it was in her home, therefore it is cash only. Overall did a good job on altering my reception and ceremony dress, however I felt the prices were quite steep considering she works out of her home and there is no overhead of storefront. To be honest I was just too lazy to get pricing from other places and I saw they had good reviews so I trusted it. I paid $650 for my ceremony dress and $175 for my reception dress. She was patient and I had multiple fittings and was very accommodating. My dress was bunching around the hips and after multiple fittings and me losing weight it still wasn’t sitting properly. I had to do my own research and found something called a “waist stay” that would help it stay up which I requested to be added. I feel like as a professional seamstress this option should have been mentioned the first time I talked to her about the issue and I shouldn’t have had to do my own research to find the solution. This “waist stay” was added at my final fitting while I waited and I was only told AFTER it was added that it was an additional $50. I just wish I had been told beforehand as it was already added to my dress and I just had to agree to pay it.read more
She did an excellent job on my wedding dress and 2 of my bridesmaids! My wedding dress had lace, boning, built in corset, and a train and Mari did a beautiful job taking it in and putting in bustles that were incredibly well hidden. Both bridesmaids were also very happy. One was a simple alteration while the other had to be taken in at least 2 sizes. Once Mari was done, everything fit like a glove.read more
Really impressed with the work Mari did on my wedding dress and my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding. The alterations she made on the lace bodice were incredible and she made sure that I was happy with the results. Mari altered my wedding dress this summer and was amazing to work with! My dress didn’t require any major alterations - only a bustle was needed - but Mari also altered my mom’s veil (with its 80s headpiece) so that I could wear it with a hair comb. She understood the detail and delicate lace that my dress had and ensured the bustle would not weigh it down and potentially rip it. Mari also arranged and picked up my dress at the cleaners to ensure it was properly pressed and steamed before the wedding. Mari is a miracle worker!! I bought a sample dress that was too large for me and Mari worked wonders! Mari is a MIRACLE worker! Two days before my wedding, I got my dress back from another seamstress. It was severely damaged and unwearable. I was devastated and thought I would have to find another dress last minute. However, I called Mari in the morning, explaining my situation, and despite her busy schedule, she understood my distress and took on my project. She completely fixed the back of my dress, sewed the sleeves on to absolute perfection, and made sure it was EXACTLY what I wanted. She did this all in about 24 hours and THEN called in a favor to a friend to have the dress cleaned immediately. Mari saved my wedding day and did such a phenomenal job not only fixing the dress, but reassuring me that everything would be just as I wanted for my big day. Mari did an incredible job altering my wedding dress! The bodice had a lot of beading and crystal work, which she painstakingly removed and re-did after taking in the bodice by several inches. I was so impressed with her work; my dress looked amazing and the bustle she added held up all night through vigorous dancing (a first in my experience- all my friends had their bustles break mid-reception). When looking for someone to perform alternations on my dress Mari came very highly recommended by a number of people. Now I know why! It was a wonderful experience - Mari is a lovely person and was so great to communicate with. She is does amazing work - She added a larger panel to the back of my dress so that there wouldn't be a gap in the bottom, added bustles to support my very heavy train, shortened my straps and shortened the length of the underlay. Mari is excellent. She hemmed my Berta wedding gown and adjusted the straps for me in a timely matter. She's the only one you should trust with Italian designer gowns as she understands the intricate beading work and makes sure that she preserves the delicate fabric while making her adjustments. She is professional, prompt, knows what she is talking about and always willing to help.
